Student Loan Payments

The Office of Student Loan Collections accepts checks (personal or cashier), money orders, and credit/debit cards (Mastercard, VISA, Discover and American Express).

Please note that all payments must be made in United States dollars.

Online Payments with ECSI

ECSI is the University's Student Loan billing service. Borrowers have the option of making online payments through the ECSI website. Borrowers will need the University of Michigan school code S5 and their PIN. Both the school code and the borrower's PIN appear on the borrower's monthly statement. Borrowers are advised to read the instructions carefully and note possible fees associated with these transactions. Lost PIN numbers may be reset through the ECSI website.

Checks and Money Orders

Checks and Money Orders are to be made payable to the University of Michigan and display the borrower's name and UMID. The payment can be remitted to either of the following addresses:

Credit and Debit Cards

Borrowers who wish to make a payment using a credit or debit card may call the Student Loan Collections office at (800) 456-0706 or (734) 764-9281. The Student Loan Collections office accepts MasterCard, VISA, Discover and American Express credit cards or debit cards with these logos.

Cash

Cash payments can only be made at a campus Teller Services/Cashier's Office. Borrower's must inform the teller that the payment is for the Student Loan Collections Office.

Due Dates

Payments are due the first of each month.

Late Fees

Late fees are assessed, where applicable, after a 10 day grace period.

Financial Holds

To release a financial hold immediately all payments must be in the form of certified funds: cash, cashier's check, money order, or credit card.
